Magnesium pula agak mahal, lama kelamaan setelah teknologi menghasilkan aluminium yang lebih berkualiti dan aloy yang lebih kuat, ia kembali popular dari rim magnesium.

Secara basic ada dua cara buat rim alloy. Casting (tuang dalam acuan) Forging (mampatan)

Casting atau Cast, : senang cakap cairan aloy dan tuang dalam acuan, bab casting ni aje ade bermacam jenis.
Kalau rim murah china memang pakai teknik paling murah dan cepat. Contoh jenama rim Jepun menggunakan teknik high quality / preasure ni ialah Enkei, Bukan main tuang aje. Kena pakai aluminum aloy yang berkualiti dan teknik casting yang berteknologi tinggi. Tekanan angin tinggi digunakan untuk memasukkan aloy cair dalam acuan, setelah itu acuan itu di panaskan dan diputar pada kelajuan tinggi. (macam buat pasu tembikar atas meja berpusing) Kompany macam ni biasanya mengeluarkan kos yang tinggi untuk R & D bagi produk mereka. Semuanya untuk ketahanan dan keselamatan penguna produk. Teknik cast mempunyai kelebihan pada rekabentuk rim, kerana aloy di mampatkan dalam acuan, berbagai jenis bentuk rim dapat dihasilkan. Mengikut prinsip Enkei, rim mestilah mampu milik, dan mempunyai ketahanan dan keringanan yang hampir menyamai rim teknik forging.

Forge atau Forging : senang cakap aloy pejal atau separa pejal di kompres menjadi bentuk rim. Teknik ini menghasilkan rim yang lebih keras dan ringan, tetapi bentuk rim agak terbatas. Proses ini juga lebih mahal dari teknik cast. (dah mesti la rim tu jadi mahal keluar kilang nanti) Antara jenama rim yang mengunakan teknik ni ialah , Volk racing dari Rays Engineering, SSR Wheel (siri forged )

Rim TE 37 yang leh-jen. Kenapa di panggil TE 37?? tahu tak? T E berasal dari "touring evolution" dan 37 dari berat rim tersebut. 3.7 kilo untuk rim 15" 6JJ.. ringan tu...

Rim CE 28.. antara yang harga second pun bleh beli moto sebijik. Tapi dia punya ringan memang best, cume duit pocket jer tak best

SSR type X. legend ni.. ringan pun ringan. Rim ini guna teknik semi solid forging (SSF) ini trademark rim flagsip (premium) SSR.. jangan tak tahu..

Ori atau replika.?

Semuanya berkenaan Duit, Sebagai contoh, rim original SSR type F 15" baru mungkin dalam anggaran harga 4k++ dan terpakai dalam harga 2-3K bergantung pada kondisi. Tetapi rim replika mungkin berharga 1k-700 baru dan 400-600 terpakai.

Kepuasan. Ramai orang inginkan gaya dan trend terkini. akan tetapi trend rim terkini dari jepun mungkin membuat anda tergamam dengan harganya. Ada sebab mengapa produk jepun mahal, lagi pun kebanyakannya dihasilkan dengan kualiti yang bagus. Cuma yang tak bagus harganya, dengan tukaran matawang yang tinggi kita memang tidak termampu nak ikut gaya hidup sana. Tapi kalau dapat yang ori memang pueh hati kan?...Replika memang murah, tetapi ada risiko kerosakan produk. Tapi ade yang tak kisah, janji bergaya...

Keselamatan, Rim berkualiti original di reka supaya kenderaan boleh di pandu setelah sport rim menerima impak yang tinggi. Rim diuji dengan ketat supaya dapat bertahan pada situasi tekanan tinggi seperti pelanggaran dan pemanduan aggresif (track) . Kalu rajin gi kat you tube dan tgk ujikaji pada rim replika. semuanya hancur dan retak setelah dikenakan ujikan impak atau perlanggaran. Google "dangerous fake wheel"

Rim tiruan mempunyai kerapuhan yang tidak dapat di jangka. Nak pakai boleh. tapi berhati hati

Originality....Di USA, ramai orang menggunakan rim replika. Tetapi disana juga terdapat grup yang menggalakkan peminat automotif mengunakan barangan original. Mereka berpendapat jika kita menyokong barang replika kita seperti membenarkan kecurian harta intelek berlaku secara berleluasa. Perlu diingat syarikat menghabiskan wang dan masa untuk mengkaji supaya dapat menghasilkan produk. Dan ini adalah tidak adil bagi mereka. Di sana harta intelek adalah titik peluh dan harga tenaga kerja manusia.

Mane satu Ori ... Macam mane nak kenal rim ori dan tak ori. Banyak cara, cuma yang kita marah kalau rim pirate dijual pada harga yg hampir ori atau di declare ori pada harga sale. Kalau "mau mana satu? ori ka.. replika ka??" senang cerita. Salah satu cara mengenal rim japan adalah pada cop "MADE IN JAPAN" atau pun production stiker dalam dan luar gegelung (barrel) rim. Tapi semua itu boleh di tiru dan sticker boleh di order/ reprint. Antara cara yang paling selamat tanya tauke kedai betul betul serius atau, pegi kedai rim yang khusus jual rim japan ori. pegang dan angkat tanpa tayar. Dari situ boleh agaklah berat nya macam mana. 1st time saya angkat rim jepun. terkejut dengan keringanannya. Biasa dok angkat rim taiwan jer.

Tak semua rim jepun ade cop made in japan. Kalau tak caya korang cuba cari TE37 generasi yang awal awal dulu. Dulu depa target pasaran japan sahaja. Bila dah glamer ramai yang ciplak, extra engraving dan embossed di perkenalkan.

Rim TE 37 generasi awal, langsung takde tulisan embossed 'made in japan' 'forged' 'monoblock' .. tapi yang penting ori.... Bila Rays Engineering di tanya "kenapa buat rim pakai proses forged yang mahal dah payah? " ...'keselamatan pengguna adalah yang paling penting, sekurang kurangnya kereta anda masih boleh di tolak ketepi jika ada pelanggaran. kerana rim masih "in one piece"

Kesimpulan. Semuanya terpulang pada anda. Early generation replika, macam rim taiwan masih mempunyai standard yang , menghampiri OEM (original equipment manufacturer) . Jika anda pentingkan keselamatan, rim OEM yang datang pada kereta asal biasanya bawah jenama JRD, BSA, Enkei dan lain lain masih lebih bagus dari rim replika China. Rim China ada gred grednya. Tapi untuk maksimumkan profit kebanyakannya gred rendah dibawa masuk ke negara ini.

Pengalaman bersama BSA B40

Catatan Si Rambo: Biarpun telah memperolehi BSA B40, tetapi aku jarang menunggangnya kerana berasa kekok. Gear sebelah kanan dan brek pula sebelah kiri. Aku perlahan-lahan cuba menyesuaikan diri dengan menunggangnya dalam kawasan perumahan Desa Tambun. Kali pertama…. Aku hampir-hampir masuk longkang. Biarpun aku menunggangnya dalam keadaan perlahan, perasaan kekok tetap wujud. Seminggu sekurang-kurangnya dua kali aku membawanya bersiar-siar. Selama 2 tahun begitulah keadaannya. Aku kurang arif tentang motosikal British ini. Kerap lepak di warung kopi Pak Ali di Kampung Tersusun Tambun sesekali akan terjumpa dengan Shukri. Kebiasaannya Shukri akan datang dengan BSA YB 350cc. Aku tidak tahu pun ketika itu dia adalah Presiden Ipoh British Classicbike Club. Dengan dialah aku sering bertanya mengenai BSA lebih-lebih lagi mengenai alatganti.
Shukri sendiri tidak tahu yang aku telah memiliki BSA B40 ketika itu. Setelah 2 tahun…. Aku pun bersara dari perkhidmatan. Keputusan perpindah balik ke kampung dan menetap di sana. Ketika di kampung aku memberanikan diri menunggang BSA B40 di atas jalanraya. Aku telah mendapat rentak dan sering membawanya dalam keadaan laju dan tidak takut menempuh selekoh. Ketika itu aku begitu jarang membawa motosikal ZZR 500cc kerana telah teruja dengan BSA B40 (Keputusan akhir – aku telah menjual ZZR 500cc kerana telah tidak memperdulikannya lagi).
Satu hari aku memilih untuk melalui jalan Ladang UIE. Ladang UIE memang luas dan keluasannya 600 hektar. Bekas Ladang Tebu Gula Perak. Aku memasuki kawasan tersebut dan santai melihat ladang kelapa pandan dan sebahagian lagi ladang kelapa sawit. Aku masuk hingga ke kawasan penempatan pekerja dan kelihatan pekerja asing yang terdiri bangsa Indonesia dan Bangladesh. Ketika tiba di kawasan pejabat pengurusan ladang, aku berpatah balik dan tidak berhenti di mana-mana kerana khuatir melihat pekerja asing asyik memandang ke arah aku dengan motosikal lama. Lagipun aku tidak mengenali sesiapapun di situ.

Ketika dalam perjalanan pulang….. aku menempuh ladang kelapa pandan bersulam pokok koko yang saujana mata memandang kiri dan kanan jalan. Tiada kelibat manusia di situ. Tiba-tiba motosikal aku meragam. Injin mati dan aku cuba menghidupkannya berulangkali. Sehingga terasa seperti hampir tercabut lutut aku ketika itu. Aku mula kecut perut. Tempat itu sunyi…. Ketika aku terasa panik kulihat jam…. Pukul 3.15 petang. Cuba menghubungi sepupu isteri aku yang mempunyai bengkel kenderaan….. malangnya tiada talian telefon di situ. Aku cuba menyurung BSA B40…. Dalam keadaan terpaksa walaupun berat. Peluh mencurah-curah. Tiba-tiba ternampak sekumpulan anak gadis berbangsa India sedang berjalan. Mereka kelihatan seperti mahu pulang selepas bekerja di ladang. Sebaik bertembung aku terus bertanya “Dek…. Jauh lagi ke Pos Polis Bantuan?”. Salah seorang dari mereka menjawab “Lebih kurang 7 kilometer lagi Pak Cik!”. Aduh!!! Aku mengeluh sendirian. Inilah kali pertama aku berhadapan situasi begini.


Aku tiada pilihan melainkan terus menyurung BSA B40. Sambil aku menolak motosikal tiba-tiba berselisih dengan sebuah motosikal. Penunggangnya seorang pemuda Melayu. “Kenapa Bang?” dia bertanya. “Tak tahu…. Tiba-tiba je mati injin. Start banyak kali tak mahu hidup!” ujarku. Dia mengesyorkan aku meninggalkan motosikal di situ dan menawarkan bantuan naik motosikalnya keluar mencari mekanik. Aku menolak tawarannya itu kerana…. Khuatir motosikal aku akan dipelarikan oleh orang. Aku sanggup menolak motosikal tersebut walau berpuluh kilometer lagi asalkan tidak meninggalkannya di tempat yang tidak pasti keadaannya. Berisiko. Lagipun jika berbuat sedemikian pastinya jiwaku tidak tenteram. Akhirnya dia meninggalkan aku sendirian menolak BSA B40.
Tidak lama selepas itu lalu sebuah lori pick-up. Pemandunya berbangsa India agak berusia, manakala di belakang lori ada beberapa pekerja Indonesia. Dia berhenti dan bertanyakan keadaan motosikal. Dia menawarkan bantuan untuk menolong. Puas dia cuba menghidupkan, tetapi gagal. Diapun membelek-belek di bahagian injin. “Bang…. Motosikal ni guna petnam (Contact Point) bukan?” Lelaki itu bertanya. “Ya!” jawabku ringkas. “Nanti saya buka dan cuci dulu!” katanya lagi. Kebetulan pula aku ada beberapa tool terdiri dari spaner beberapa saiz, pemutar skru dan 2 biji Palam pencucuh (Plug). Dia membuka contact point dan mengasahnya dengan daun empelas yang ada di tepi jalan. Kemudian membuka palam pencucuh…. Selepas dibelek “Minta yang baru tu bang…. Tak guna lagikan?” dia bertanya kepadaku. Aku mengiyakan dan menghulurkan kepadanya.
Setelah semuanya dipasangkan…. Terus dia menendang engkol…. Broooommm! Brooommm! BSA B40 telah mula meraung. Aku mengucapkan jutaan terima kasih kepadanya dan tidak lupa kuhulurkan wang sepuluh ringgit. Dia menolak dan berkata hanya membantu dengan ikhlas. Aku beri juga sebagai tanda terima kasih dan sekadar duit minum. Akhirnya dia ambil. Aku mengambil kesempatan bertanya bagaimana dia tahu apa puncanya motosikal itu meragam? Rupa-rupanya dia pernah memiliki sebuah motosikal Honda Twin. Pengalaman orang lama bisik hatiku. Syukurlah…. Semuanya berjaya diatasi. Selepas itu aku selamat menunggang pulang dan itu adalah pelajaran pertama aku mengenai Motosikal Tua, Motosikal Lama….. Motosikal Buruk!!
